CD2 (Cluster of Differentiation 2) is a gene encoding a transmembrane protein receptor primarily expressed on T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. As a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, CD2 plays an important role in immune cell interactions and signal transduction. The CD2 protein is a cell adhesion molecule that promotes tight contact between T cells and antigen-presenting cells through its extracellular domain binding to ligands such as LFA-3 (CD58), thereby enhancing immune activation. Although CD2 contains immunoglobulin-like domains, it lacks tyrosine kinase activity typical of classic kinase receptors and mainly regulates immune responses via cell adhesion and co-stimulatory signaling.
Genomeditech provides CD2-related functional cell lines, expression cell lines, proteins, antibodies, and other resources for in vitro evaluation of CD2-targeted drugs.
